LE DÉPART

Part of Cath Simard’s Genesis collection, LE DÉPART includes a single image and an in-person experience from a place within the light ; Spirit Island, a remote mystical island located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. This photograph is the most appreciated of my entire work. It has been viewed and shared tens of millions of times on social media and featured on some of the largest photography pages. This is one of the places where I truly got outside of my own comfort zone and began to overcome the fear of the unknown. I want to inspire one person to actually step outside of their own comfort zone.

THE MASTER EXPERIENCE

LE DÉPART is the first in-person hosted, collaborative & immersive travel experience within the NFT world.


THE FIRST COLLECTOR RECEIVES :

  • A personalized 5-day trip for one person to the Canadian Rockies hosted by the artist including a 2-day canoe trip to Spirit Island (all ground expenses covered, up to $8k USD).  

  • A hands-on immersive opportunity to learn photography directly from the artist (for any skill level).   

  • A signed physical print of this image with a certificate of authenticity (size of the print to be determined after purchase but not exceeding 60 linear inches).  

  • A commissioned collaborative piece created for the collector during the trip (this new NFT will be minted on SuperRare and transferred to the collector with a transferable, exclusive, unlimited, perpetual, worldwide license).  

  • A 1/1 limited edition signed physical print of this collaborative piece with a certificate of authenticity (size of the print to be determined by the artist and the collector but not exceeding 60 linear inches) 

  • A selection of behind the scenes images taken during the trip (for personal use). 

Important information about this NFT:  

  • The collector will have up to three years following the purchase to redeem the experience gifted with this NFT.  

  • In the event that the collector does not wish to or cannot attend the trip within 3 years, the custom piece will be created by the artist during a personal expedition and transferred to the collector. 

  • A custom itinerary will be created and adapted to the collector’s preferences and fitness level. 

  • Upon purchase, contracts will be sent to the collector for the trip and the photo license. 

THE STORY BEHIND ‘’LE DÉPART’’

 ‘’Le Départ’’ is the closing piece of Cath Simard’s genesis NFT collection “Lumière du Noir”

The image attached to this experience represents finally leaving the comfort of the caves and pushing to discover new worlds of possibility. They say that man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore. For me, this doesn’t mean leaving never to return, but instead routinely pushing past my own comfort and opening my heart and mind to something new. 

This photograph was taken during my first backcountry canoe trip, a four-hour journey to Spirit Island. As I pushed into the waters of Maligne Lake, I left behind the shore, a metaphor for my own material comfort, my insecurities, relationships, and other areas of my life that were holding me back from discovering new oceans. 

I captured this scene on a morning of new light, the dawn of infinite possibilities. Possibilities are uncomfortable and may cause a desire to get back on the shore, safe, stable and reassuring. But overcoming the fear of the unknown and letting the current guide you will always bring you where you are meant to be, where everything perfectly aligns.
