In the early summer of 2021, landscape and composite photographer Cath Simard will be launching here first NFT release on the exclusive art platform, Super Rare. As part of the experience, Cath will be offering a one-in-a-lifetime experience to one lucky collector to travel to Canada and join her on 5 days, 4 night trip to the Canadian Rockies. The highlight of this experience is an two-day overnight canoe trip to Spirit Island, to recapture her most popular photograph called “The Beginning”. Catherine is looking to partner with Pursuit Collected as the official “Hospitality Sponsor” for this experience to ensure a first class end-to-end experience for the winning collector.

About NFTs

NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) are digital assets that are authentically verified using blockchain technology. This process gives the buyer immutable and verifiable proof of ownership of the original digital asset. These NFTs are meant to be non-replaceable meaning each copy verified on the blockchain is unique and can’t be duplicated or replaced with a similar copy. Today, NFTs are typically used for “digital art” including animations, drawings, and photography. The NFT market has exploded in 2021 resulting in purchases of digital art for upwards of $69M, with recent sales in the newly developing photography space valued in the tens of thousands of dollars.

About the Drop

“Lumière Du Noir”, a French term for “Light from Dark” is a metaphor for being stuck in a very dark, comforting and apathetic place and finally discovering the possibilities of the world outside — a world with light and potential.

The first part of the drop (the collection) includes a series of composites images taken from the inside of caves around the world. Each digital image in this collection will come with a limited-edition HD sublimated metal print, signed, with a certificate of authenticity. This will be my first physical limited edition prints ever released to the public.

The second part of the release (the experience) is a single image from a place within the light -- Spirit Island, a remote mystical island located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. This is one of the places where I truly escaped from my own comfort zone and began to overcome the fear of the unknown. This image called “The Beginning” is the most appreciated and shared of my entire work. It has been viewed and shared tens of millions of times on social media and featured on some of the largest photography platforms. It will also come with a 1/1 limited edition sublimated metal print, but this part of the release is where I want to push even further, where I want to inspire one person to actually step outside of their own comfort zone. This is where I want to invite the winner to join me on the experience.

THE EXPERIENCE

Day 1:Arrival at YYC. Drive to Banff and checkin at Chateau Mont Royal. Relax until evening Gondola and dinner at Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen or Sky Bistro.

Day 2: Sunrise drive to Lake Louise. Brunch at Chateau Lake Louise. Afternoon trip to Moraine Lake. Drive Icefield Parkway with a stop at the Columbia Icefields Skywalk or Ice Walk. Arrive in Jasper. Stay at Chateau Jasper.

Day 3: Drive to Maligne Lake. Meet our canoe guide, 20K paddle to setup camp at Fisherman’s Bay, prepared dinner and campfire.

Day 4: Pre-dawn paddle to our first view of Spirit Island. Sunrise photo shoot at Spirit Island. Return to camp, pack up camping gear, paddle back, return to Jasper to checkin at Pyramid Lake Resort. Relaxing spa afternoon in Jasper with optional evening activities in Jasper or around Pyramid Lake Resort.

Day 5: Optional morning activity in Jasper. Icefield Parkway Drive to Banff with a final stop at the Columbia Icefields Helitour. Drive to YYC for evening departure.

REQUESTS

For this NFT launch and the unique in-person experience, Cath Simard is looking to partner with Pursuit Collective to create an unforgettable experience in the Canadian Rockies. Pursuit would assist with transportation, accommodation, meals, attractions and guiding along with assisting in curating the itinerary to ensure a first-class experience for the winning bidder.

DELIVERABLES

Cath Simard will be provide the following deliverables in exchange for Pursuit’s support.

- Pursuit will be featured as the “Hospitality Partner” in all communication (website description, social media promotion, interviews, etc) leading up to and following the completion of the NFT drop / auction

- Pursuit will be provided a licence to a selection of photo and video content captured by Cath Simard for the duration of the experience

ABOUT SUPERRARE

SuperRare is a marketplace to collect and trade unique, single-edition digital artworks. The platform is in early access, onboarding only a small number of hand-picked artists. SuperRare has one of the largest bases of high value collectors, and because of it’s curated and limited inventory, NFTs typically sell on SuperRare for a significantly higher purchase price than other more traditional open marketplaces.

About Cath Simard

Catherine Simard is a Canadian-born self-taught landscape/composite photographer, digital artist and educator with a passion for the outdoors and the wilderness. Her mission is to share her passion & artistic vision through otherworldly imagery and teach her art through photography workshops around the world. She’s also a SONY ambassador and has worked for recognized brands such as SONY, DJI, & SÉPAQ.
